There will be no registration for the introductory course Sport Hypnosis in 2025.
However, if you are interested, you may pre-register without obligation for the 2026 course:
Introductory Course: “Sport Hypnosis” with Dr. Reinhold Bartl
September 14, 2026 (start: Monday, 1:30 PM) – September 17, 2026 (end: Thursday, 1:00 PM) in Innsbruck

Target Audience:

Experienced and qualified professionals
To ensure a strong practical orientation, participants are encouraged to submit specific cases or challenges from their professional practice in advance. These will be addressed using tailored approaches during the workshop.

Contents:

During the course, participants will be introduced to effective, practice-based concepts and methods (techniques) from Ericksonian hypnosis, which have proven especially valuable for supporting individuals in (sport) performance contexts. Key topics include:

  • Foundations of Ericksonian Hypnosis in Theory and Practice
  • Communication tools for focusing optimal performance trance states
  • Application of Ericksonian methods to systematically promote flow processes
  • Hypnosis for dealing with performance anxiety, “failure”, setbacks, and injuries

Ericksonian approaches are especially well-suited to performance contexts as they support the integration of conscious-rational and involuntary-intuitive processes.
This allows cognitive-rational skills (e.g., tactics, planning, competition/training structure) to be effectively combined with motivational, intuitive, and preconscious aspects that are essential in sports.
As a result, the effectiveness of coaching and mental training is significantly enhanced—for refining motor skills, mental preparation and reflection, and for targeted activation of performance resources.

Core Topics (selection based on participants’ submitted cases):

  • Fundamentals of Ericksonian Hypnosis in theory and practice
  • A practice-relevant understanding of trance, consciousness, the involuntary, and body knowledge
  • Systematic differentiation of rational-volitional vs. intuitive-involuntary processes
  • Hypnosis-specific communication tools for focusing performance trance states
  • Hypnosis-specific methods for promoting flow
  • Anchor techniques for precise activation of performance resources
  • Hypnotic approaches for dealing with competition anxiety, “failure”, defeat, and injury
  • Purposeful “time games” – pro- and regressive time formats for goal/vision development and leveraging past success
  • Strengthening motivation-related performance qualities such as determination and commitment
  • Dealing with increasing performance pressure (e.g., tournaments, career progression)

Teaching Approach:
The course will be conducted in a dynamic and vivid mix of:

  • Conceptual input and theoretical framework
  • Live demonstrations
  • Practical exercises based on real-life case examples
  • Group discussions and experience-sharing
